Unpopular Fandom Opinion? (Day Six)

Day Six: Your Least Favorite Episode
Easy. "Route 666." You would think I'd have watched that repeatedly because of Shirtless!SexyTiems!Dean but nope. I'm annoyed by racist truck and by Cassie. Not because she was a love interest but because of her delivery of "I'm sorry" when she's fighting with Dean. Drives me up the wall. Which is a good segue into what might be an unpopular fandom opinion.


There are three characters that have been on Show that I've disliked for the same reason: Cassie, Nu!Ruby, and Nu!Meg. I can't help but think that the casting department of SPN is sometimes more concerned with casting pretty actresses than good actresses. Maybe not good actresses. How about the right actresses for the part?

That's not to say that they're the only ones. It's a problem in Hollywood. It's an image driven industry that cares a lot more about how female guest stars look than male guest stars. You don't see the repeating male characters on Supernatural (see: Crowley, Bobby, etc.) having to be conventionally handsome. They just have to be right for the character.

I just have a hard time watching any scene with Cassie or Nuby or Nu!Meg because I can't stand the way they talk. In the case of Ruby, I would have preferred an entire season of the actress who played Maid!Ruby to Genevieve (Who I do like. Really. Just not as Ruby.) because I felt Maid!Ruby had the right amount of spunk. Maybe it's just me and I'm whining for no good reason. Plus I lost my train of thought. Shutting up now.
