Applying for jobs is haaaaaaard. Why can't someone just give me a flipping job already? I promise I'm good at whatever you want me to be good at. /whining

To make sure this post isn't entirely useless, have a cat being Rickrolled.

Language is a funny thing, especially when you start getting into colloquialisms and swears. For some reason, some of those don't translate that well across. I saw this recent example of that on Boing Boing.

Here, a man is teaching Korean speakers English swear words so they'll recognize when a foreigner curses. I find a few of things amusing about this. 1) Apparently in Korean, a word teenagers use that means both good and bad is 'pickled'. 2) It's somewhat odd to hear someone cussing when it's obvious the words they're saying don't mean anything to them. 3) The fact that this gentleman is only teaching the words so Korean speakers can recognize them. He actually encourages people watching the video never to use them. More than that, when he's using Korean swear words as examples, he claims that he's never used those words before in his entire life. I'm not sure it's actually, physically possible to be that polite.

Seriously though, you should watch the video.

I love the feeling of getting into a new fandom at the same time that I dread it. When I get into a new fandom, I tend to get micro crushes on one or more of the actors and have to go watch their entire filmography. This can be good or bad, usually both on the same actor.

For Inception, I'm going back and watching a bunch of JGL and Tom Hardy stuff. So far so good on Tom Hardy. I saw Star Trek: Nemesis in the theater back in the day, so there's little he could have done that could be worse. I've only had a chance to watch RocknRolla so far and I adored it. So yay there.

In the case of JGL, I'd already seen most of the good stuff as it came out or shortly afterwards because I've always rather liked him. That means in my attempts to catch up on his career, I watched Treasure Planet and GI Joe: Rise of the Cobras. Those two weren't even the fun kind of bad movies. I want that four or so hours of my life back please. Ugh. I feel like I need to watch 10 Things I Hate About You for the millionth time to get the bad taste out of my mouth. Ugh. Not recommended, you guys.

ETA: I don't know why I ever read the comments on Gilmore Girls posts in ONTD. I don't care what those haters say. Dean was the perfect boyfriend and Rory was stupid to dump him for Jess. (Well...Dean was perfect until they character assassinated him by having him marry his rebound then turn around and cheat on his rebound wife with Rory. He was perfect until then.)

For the first time in months, I actually had a dream that I remembered upon waking. And it was a zombie apocalypse dream!

I think it was heavily influenced by Left 4 Dead (which I never play), Inception, and Batman: Under the Red Hood (both movies that I watched yesterday). I was dressed much like Jason at the end of Under the Red Hood with the snug body armor and the two guns tucked into the back of my waistband. I was leading and protecting a group of survivors. Half of the survivors in my group were dressed in some seriously sharp GQMF suits. The other half was my family, also dressed in various forms of body armor. I was the only person to have guns because I had the best aim and I was the only one who wouldn't hesitate about shooting someone.

I probably would have forgotten all about it when I woke up if it hadn't been for the neighbors. One of my neighbors woke me because he was using a really loud weed whacker, and when it revved, it sounded like a really loud groaning noise. So I woke up with my heart pounding because I thought there was a zombie in the room with me.

Guys, is this what shame feels like? It's not something I'm used to. It's not like I did anything wrong. I just left a couple of prompts at [livejournal.com profile] inception_kink. And I made absolutely certain I anonned so no one can trace anything back to me. But still.

If you're bored, you can always see if you can find my prompts. There's one that I'm pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] cho_malfoy can get, but the other one might not be quite as easy. I don't know. I guess it largely depends on how easy my writing style is to recognize.

Finally got around to watching RocknRolla last night. It was so much funnier than I was expecting. And gay. So very gay. One Two and Handsome Bob going dancing was one of my favorite things ever. I gotta say, it's a good thing I didn't see this before I learned that Guy Ritchie was going to do Sherlock Holmes or I would have injured something squeeing and bouncing around.

Little bit of Inception talk )

I have to answer this one because [livejournal.com profile] cho_malfoy and I were just talking about something similar. I would be Special Agent Dana Scully from The X-Files. She is probably my all-time favorite fictional character. I love her story arc. I love her relationship with Mulder. I love how no-nonsense and take-charge she's always been. I just love her. <3 (She's also one of the main reasons I keep dying my hair red.)

Today was a goodish day. I had my job interview. I think it went really well, but it doesn't matter because I can't accept the job if they offer it to me. But at least I did well!

Also, today I got my belated birthday present. Batman: Under the Red Hood. It was awesome. I loved it to bitty, bitty pieces. I'm not really going to say anything about it because I want people to watch it for themselves. The movie is love. Getting to listen to Jensen Ackles, Bruce Greenwood, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Isaacs, and Kelly Hu all in one movie certainly didn't hurt anything.

Tomorrow, I have a job interview. This is my first interview in years. (Let me count... I think almost four years since the last one.) I shouldn't be nervous because I know I can't accept the position if they offer it to me, and I mostly just agreed to the interview in order to practice. But I'm really nervous anyway. Bah.

To take my mind off things, I'm attemping to make charts for a couple of knitting projects I want to do. For example, I'm trying to come up with a chart for the totem in my icon. I'm just sad that I can't do the projects I'm thinking of sooner because I have a few birthday and baby shower gifts to make before I get to them. At least making the charts is keeping my mind off of other things.

Tonight, I give you two videos that have been recced everywhere. I will share them anyway.

Since I've been watching the first season of Voyager the last couple of days, I thought it might be appropriate to post a picture of a present that I just finished for my brother-in-law's birthday.

Kroykah! J/K, go on ahead. )

Basically what my subject line says. I've been having a crap couple of weeks. I keep falling asleep too late, not being able to stay deeply asleep, then getting woken up by banging and traffic way too early in the morning. It makes me cranksome.

I should be having a fun relaxing time this weekend. Instead, I'm sitting around listlessy trying to be nice to my hip since it's sore from walking. Speaking of walking, I got a haircut to get ready for my interview on Tuesday. Yay for getting things done!

There was a fairly epic Sailor Moon post on ONTD. Someone linked to a Sailor Senshi maker. And there went my evening.

I'm not done with tonight's episode so I'm not going to discuss it. The judges just annoy me so, so much that I feel I have to say something.

Robert and Adechike aren't as good as you think they are! You've killed Jose's spirit! Kent and Billy are endlessly awesome! Um, I agree with you guys on Lauren. I hope she wins.

Just stop pissing me off, you guys! *rages*

ETA: Billy's injured?! So what? The judges have decided they don't like having to decide who to send home so they push the dancers until they get hurt?

Glee. What the ever-loving frick, you guys? I hate that show. Hate, hate, hate. I watch it because [livejournal.com profile] cho_malfoy does. The only thing that doesn't make me kill the tv before the show starts is Sue Sylvester. I would marry Jane Lynch if she weren't taken. Other than that, I don't understand the appeal of Glee.

Jared Padalecki is 28 today. I'll always think of him as a giant puppy, no matter how much of a manbeast he actually is.

Ooh, I have something to say about Inception.

He's fictional, so I'm not sure it counts. But me, Clark Kent (probably the Smallville version), Kryptonite baseball bat, ten minutes. I'm going to have a grand old time.

Also, I saw Inception today. Good movie, awesome visuals. I loved it.

I've been trying to do more episode rewatch/recap entries, but real life keeps getting in the way. Today, for example. The power went out earlier for about an hour and a half. I wasn't getting a lot done then.

The other problem is I need to actually pay attention to a show in order to write up my thoughts on it and I haven't been too good at doing that lately. I've recently really gotten into knitting and end up knitting gifts while I'm watching shows. I can do two things at a time but not any more than that. At the moment, knitting has to take slight priority to recaps because I have birthdays and baby showers cluttering up the next month.
